About Hickling, Norfolk

The village sign is of an Augustinian Priory, founded in 1185 by Teobald de Valoins.

St marys church

The building of the present St Mary's Church commenced in the first half of the 13th century, approximately half a mile from the Priory.

During the middle ages peat was dug from the marshes for fuel, which later flooded to form the Broads. Hickling Broad is the largest and wildest of the Norfolk Broads and is famous for its wetland nature reserve.

The village is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. The Broads and nature reserve are magical places and the local beaches are designated as areas of outstanding natural beauty.

The village and surrounding countryside are full of opportunities for you and your family or friends.

Kingsley Cottage offers warm and comfortable accommodation whilst you enjoy your holiday and all the activities and attractions that Norfolk has to offer.
